Choosing Wellness
Suppose you decide to work with Authentic Wellness and Recovery and its Life Coaching programming. In that case, you will partner with a coaching professional and embark on a creative and thought-provoking process to maximize your potential to reach YOUR chosen goals. Coaching can lead you to greater personal and emotional fulfillment and a healthy, productive life.
Our life coaching is based on believing you need a compelling goal and vision to be motivated to see the benefits of making a change. You will learn to acknowledge what it will mean not to make a change and what it would cost you to stay in old patterns and behaviors. Once you’ve identified what’s holding you back, you will become ready for a transition to move forward. You will figure out what motivates you and how you can use that motivation to propel yourself towards a life you want to live.
Now that you have a clearer idea of how life coaching works, consider some examples where coaching through Authentic Wellness and Recovery can help:

- Making a realistic timeline to reach those goals
- Boosting your self-confidence
- Working on your spiritual growth
- Keeping yourself responsible and accountable
- Removing procrastination from your life
- Creating a better support system
- Improving your time-management skills
- Minimizing stress and increasing productivity
Codependency
Codependency is a term that refers to a psychological, spiritual, or emotional reliance on another person that can be self-destructive and may even promote enabling behaviors. Codependent relationships are often out of balance, and a codependent person may ignore their own needs. They might have trouble establishing healthy boundaries and may end up in one-sided or abusive situations. Codependent relationships can occur with intimate partners, family members, or within caregiving situations.
Codependency is more common among families where stress or dysfunction, such as substance abuse or childhood trauma, are present. It can also occur in certain personality traits such as experiencing high anxiety, the need for approval, low self-esteem, obsessiveness, fear of conflict, trust issues, or pleasing people. Authentic Wellness and Recovery can help you identify and overcome unhealthy dynamics and strengthen your well-being.

Someone may begin to use drugs, drink, or behave compulsively as a simple experiment or in a social setting. However, for many, this leads to increased dependence on a substance or a behavior to recreate the euphoria once experienced. Unfortunately, ongoing addictive behaviors often lead to negative consequences such as problems with work, school, family, relationships, authority, health, or finances. Both chemical addictions (alcohol and drugs) and process addictions (eating/binging, gambling, shopping, internet, work, etc.) are recognized as medical illnesses and are diagnosable and treatable.
Authentic Wellness and Recovery offers counseling, education, and coaching to address addictions. We will listen, normalize your feelings, and provide a strength-based approach for a more fulfilling future away from addictions. Whether by increasing your motivation or taking accountable actions for a better life, you will also be guided to identify and connect with support communities. You may not like where you came from, but you can change your destination.

In the mid-1990s, physicians started to study the relationship between chronic deseases and certain negative experiences during childhood. Soon after, another question emerged-could trauma possibly promote mental health and addiction issues later in life? This launched a large-scale study to see objectively if there was a correlation between earlier traumatic experiences and overall mental and physical health. The shocking results strongly supported the concept that early adversity had lasting impacts on one’s life.
At Authentic Wellness and Recovery, we believe trauma needn’t be linked only to catastrophic events but can also emerge from childhood experiences involving relational trauma, unstable environments, unrealistic demands and perfectionism, and lack of nurturing. With help through Authentic Wellness and Recovery and its trauma-informed care process, you will address the underlying influence of earlier trauma and help you identify ways to lead a healthier, satisfying, and authentic life.
